Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment, through a gentle, nurturing lens.
Mindfulness helps us to be present to life no matter what is happening. It is a practice that helps us shift from living in a virtual world of thoughts, to being present and connected to vibrant world around us. As Gil Fronsdal, a lead mindfulness teacher at the Insight Meditation Center in Redwood City, CA says, it isn’t what’s happening to us that creates stress and suffering, it’s how we are relating to what’s happening that does. Mindfulness is a practice that help us learn to shift towards a more compassionate healing response and this is what we explore at West Broward Mindfulness, where Cindy Ricardo, is the lead facilitator.
