Life Lessons: Finding Balance in Todays World

Sometimes we can get so caught up in doing things, running errands, planning, etc. Other times we get so caught up in the routine of our day that we just coast through life in survival mode and are not thriving. We put emphasis on being busy and soon we begin to lose sight of our own identity and what’s important in life. Running on fumes is a sign that our lives are out of balance. That there is a need to pause, re-evaluate our priorities so that we can come back into balance. Balance means that we take care of our physical, mental and emotional needs. That we connect with those things that truly make us feel alive..

Connecting to nature in the moment…

To be in touch with the essence of life is really important if you want to wake up out of  the trance and connect with what everything that surrounds you(nature, your body, breath, people, etc.). At times you can get so lost in your thoughts, daily routines, putting out fires that it’s easy to lose touch with this moment, this breath, this body. Our focus becomes hazy, our energy scattered and after awhile it can seem as if we’re on automatic pilot, going through the motions, mindlessly moving from one task to another. When this happens it’s easy to get overwhelmed, feel numb and disconnected from everyone and everything in the outside world.

So how do you break out of this routine?

Step outside your mind...

Step outside your mind!

One way to break out of this is to take small pauses through out your day and engage in what I call a self-care break! A self care break is as essential as breathing. It’s a special moment that you dedicate entirely to yourself, attuning to what you are in need of in the moment. Maybe you read something inspiring, take a walk, take deep breaths and let go of your busy mind. It’s something you do for yourself that help’s you be in this present moment in a way that really demonstrates self compassion and care.

Just for today…

Give yourself the gift of self care. Pause and reflect on the following list and get in touch with what’s really important!

Instructions Given to Each of Us at Birth

We are born with all we need to both thrive and survive!

We are born with all we need to both thrive and survive!

  1. You will recieve a body. You may like it or you may hate it, but it will be yours for the entire period this time around.
  2. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time, informal school called life. Each day in this school, you will have the opportunity to learn lessons, you may like the lessons or think them irrelevant and stupid.
  3. There are no mistakes only lessons. Growth is a process of trial/error, and experimentation. The “failed” experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiment that ultimately “works”.
  4. A lesson is repeated until it’s learned.  A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it.  Then you can go on to the next lesson.
  5. Learning lessons doesn’t end.  There is no part of life that doesn’t contain lessons. If you are alive, there are lessons to be learned.
  6. “There” is no better “there” then “here”. When your “there” becomes a “here” you will simply obtain another “there” that again, looks better than “here”. (A bit confusing but you get the picture!)
  7. Others are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself.
  8. What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need; what you do with them is up to you. The choice is always yours!
  9. The answers lie inside of you. The answers to life’s questions lie inside of you. All you need to do is look, listen, and trust.
  10. You will forget all of this!

I have a suggestion and a challenge to all readers! Hang this up where you’ll see it everyday and see how you can put these principles into practice both in your intimate relationship and your everyday life. These are powerful guidelines to live by and the best part is that they lead to personal freedom and empowerment!

I hope you enjoyed this! Please post your comments and let others know how you were able to apply this to your everyday life. I find that I learn best from others, their stories, comments and feedback. May you touch the natural joy and peace that lives inside of you!

Namaste
